A pair of galleon vases/bookends by Beswick designed in 1934 by Mr Owen. They were produced between 1934 to 1940. Impressed on the base with shape number ‘169’, Made in England and stamped with script Beswick Ware, Made in England. Decorated in a satin matt blue/green very pale glaze with the top half (sails) in a high gloss blue with streaks of brown glaze.  The sails have a sun burst motif on each side.

Mr Owen worked for Beswick from 1934 to 1939, as a freelance sculptor, in the evenings from his own studio.
