A fine Art Deco desk. Excellent figured walnut detailing with the pedestal in macassar. Eleven drawers, five to each side and one central drawer. Each with ivorine handles and banded with marquetry detailing in exotic woods. Made by ‘Gaylayde’.
‘Gaylayde’ furniture by B.Cohen & Sons was first exhibited in 1926 at the London Furniture Exhibition and their bedroom, dining and living room furniture was sold in upmarket department stores in England.
