A beautifully made and designed cocktail cabinet, by Heaton Tabb & Co. The cross banding of walnut around the edges, including the doors makes this a quality piece of furniture.
This compact cocktail cabinet opens with two fold over doors to the top and one pull down door. A mirrored back is exposed and seven bottles can be housed securely in the spaces provided. There is also plenty of further room for glassware, etc.
Below a two door cupboard opens to reveal two shelves.
Heaton and Co. designed furniture for the Titanic and the Olympic. They had offices at Harland and Wolff’s Belfast site and this continued when they were renamed Heaton Tabb and Company Ltd , when they continued to make furniture for other prestigious liners. It is quite likely this piece came from one of the liner’s staterooms. It has several pin holes at the back to indicate it has been attached to a wall and as in this case ball bearing fixings are used to stop cupboards opening whilst at sea.
This item comes in very good vintage condition, with just some signs of age related wear to the top.
