A fine Art Deco tallboy by Maurice Adams in walnut with a striking Macassar ebony stepped design to the front edges and sides, with further Macassar ebony banding to the base. Maurice Adam’s label to the back.

Maurice Adams saw himself as the natural successor to the great furniture makers of the eighteenth century and had ambitious plans for 20th-century British interior design. All Adams’s furniture was made by hand in Gloucester and displayed in Adams’s showroom in Portman Square, London.

Many of their designs can be found in the book, ‘Modern Decorative Art’ by Maurice S.R. Adams. 1930
