Hampton & Sons was formed approximately in 1830 by William Hampton and was joined soon after by his two sons. They were registered as London cabinet makers, upholsterers, retailers and antique dealers, gaining a reputation of making and selling high quality items. They produced furniture for the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary ships, The Theatre Royal in Drury Lane and The Dorchester Hotel. It opened a factory at Ingate Place, Battersea in 1930. However, a bomb dropped on Pall Mall in 1940 destroying most of this premises. They later established Head Quarters on Kensington High Street, remaining in business until at least 1957.
