Fine Art Deco dressing table by Betty Joel. In maple with a large circular mirror, with open shelves to the left and three drawers to the right, with the ivorine shell handles often associated with Betty Joel’s designs. The Betty Joel label to the back.

One of the images show this type of dressing table being made in the Betty Joel workshops, featuring Betty Joel herself and her foreman Fred Hopkins.

Another image shows this design in a maquette for the British Art in Industry Exhibition held at the Royal Academy in 1935.

Betty Joel designed furniture, textiles and interiors, and had shops in Sloane Square and Knightsbridge. The Studio Magazine featured her work between 1927 and 1937. Today the quality and design of her pieces are highly regarded.
