A quality solid walnut bureau, made by ‘Gaylayde’. The top opens to reveal pigeon holes of various sizes and a small drawer. The slides automatically come forward to support the top when open.

Below two deep drawers with cast drop handles. A marquetry panel to the bureau front made of ebony and various exotic woods, with further inlay banding to frame the pull down writing section and below the two drawers.

Made by the ‘Gaylayde’ company. ‘Gaylayde’ furniture by B.Cohen & Sons was first exhibited in 1926 at the London Furniture Exhibition and their high quality bedroom, dining and living room furniture was sold in upmarket department stores in the UK.
