A fine and large bronze in green patina, by the important Art Deco sculptor, Ugo Cipriani.
A great example of a beautiful, stylised classic reclining nude. Her posture, face, hands and feet all masterfully executed. The artist’s signature signed clearly in the bronze and mounted on a rectangular black marble base.
Ugo Cipriani, was an Italian sculptor born in Florence, Italy in 1897 and died in Paris in June 1960. His father was a sculptor which probably inspired Ugo to study at the famous Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.
One of Ugo Cipriani’s most famous works is a statue of the patriot Oberdan in the Oberdan’s square in Florence dated 1919.
In about 1935-1937 he left Florence to escape from Mussolini’s fascist government and became a political refugee in Paris where he kept on scupting until his death in 1960.
He produced many fine art deco statutes in various mediums including spelter, spelter and ivorine, bronze and terracotta.
