A 67 piece canteen of silver plate cutlery by Robert Fead Moseley and Son for Waring and Gillow Ltd.

The table knifes and cheese knives each marked ‘Waring and Gillow Ltd’. A ten place setting for six people, accompanied with four table/serving spoons, a pair of meat carvers and a steel for sharpening.

Robert Fead Mosley was the son of an affluent jeweller in Hatton Garden. In 1864 Mosley set up his company in Sheffield initially manufacturing scissors and table knives and by 1869 the company had increased its range to include table cutlery. In 1881 he employed approximately 240 workers and registered a silver mark in 1883. Mosley formed a partnership in 1890 with the London silver retailers, ‘The Alexander Clark Manufacturing Company’ who sold from Fenchurch and Oxford Street. Mosley’s company ceased trading in 1935.
