A fine Art Deco three seater sofa by Maurice Adams. The sofa with elegant curved solid walnut detailing, sprung seats and reupholstered in soft cream leather and raised on chrome castors.
A version of this suite is found at the National Trust property of Coleton Fishacre in Devon, a 1920’s house designed for Rupert D’Oyly and his wife Lady Dorothy and the suite has been attributed by the National Trust to Maurice Adams.
Maurice Adams saw himself as the natural successor to the great furniture makers of the eighteenth century and had ambitious plans for 20th-century British interior design. All Adams’s furniture was made by hand in Gloucester and displayed in Adams’s showroom in Portman Square, London. A distinguished company who often produced furniture for the aristocracy.
